A sequence of “racial laws” was passed in 1938, thus denying to Jewish composers and musicians membership in professional and artistic associations. Although there was not a massive flight of Italian Jews from Italy during this great site era composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, an Italian Jew, was a type of who emigrated. At the turn of the century, music was characteristically late romantic in type with its expressive melodies, advanced harmonies, and expansive types.
The Polish intelligentsia, together with main members of its authorities, left Poland in the early 1830s, throughout what’s referred to as the “Great Emigration”, resettling in France, Germany, Great Britain, Turkey, and the United States. Scottish “national drama” emerged in the early 1800s, as performs with particularly Scottish themes started to dominate the Scottish stage. Theatres had been discouraged by the Church of Scotland and fears of Jacobite assemblies. In the later eighteenth century, many plays have been written for and performed by small amateur companies and were not published and so most have been misplaced. Towards the end of the century there were “closet dramas”, primarily designed to be read, rather than performed, including work by Scott, Hogg, Galt and Joanna Baillie (1762–1851), usually influenced by the ballad custom and Gothic Romanticism.
