Digital conglomerate buys right-wing app Parler – Business News

Starboard buys Parler app

The digital media conglomerate Starboard said Friday it purchased the conservative social media site Parler and will temporarily take down the app as it undergoes a “strategic assessment.”

The deal came months after another acquisition agreement with rapper Kanye West, legally known as Ye, collapsed in November.

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed by either company. Parler said the deal was concluded on April 7.

Taxes are due Tuesday in only 3 of 58 California counties

Only three of California’s 58 counties need their taxes filed by Tuesday — every other county has until Oct. 16 due to the series of atmospheric river storms that swept the state this winter.

The unusual split in tax dates is to give California residents and businesses impacted by power outages, flooding and deadly storms more time to file their federal and state income tax returns. Food storage brand Tupperware warns it could go out of business

Legendary food storage brand Tupperware has hired advisers to help turn around the company after notifying securities regulators it may have to close up shops.

In a release dated April 7, the Orlando, Florida-based company announced it was seeking to improve its capital structure in order to “remediate its doubts regarding its ability to continue as a going concern.”

That same day, Tupperware issued a going-concern notice after warning it could be heading for a default if its lenders demand payment to maintain access to the company’s main line of credit.

Phoenix Holdings Inc. plans to wind down its business and has obtained creditor protection for a second time.

Documents filed with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, which granted the protection, show the Vaughan, Ont. cannabis company previously called CannTrust Holdings Inc. is insolvent and plans to liquidate its assets.
