Conagra expands frozen, grocery offerings

CHICAGO — Conagra Brands, Inc. has launched more than 50 new products across its frozen, grocery and snack brands portfolio this summer.

Item launches include protein-dense MEGA Crustless Pizzas from Banquet, shrimp-focused Healthy Choice Power Bowls, Marie Callender’s casserole sides and Gardein plant-based protein bowls. Frozen vegetable brand Birds Eye also added several product lines, such as fire roasted vegetable offerings, microwavable vegetable dips and restaurant-inspired vegetable and sauce fusions.

Business owner arrested, charged in $9 million San Francisco investment fund fraud

A federal grand jury in San Francisco has indicted a business owner for defrauding investors and a bank to the tune of over $9 million, the US Department of Justice said Monday.

Joon Woo Kim, 57, of the City of Montebello in Los Angeles County, was arrested Monday in New Haven and appeared in US District Court in Connecticut to face the charges.

Statistics Canada says the Canadian economy remained essentially unchanged in April, following a slight uptick in March.

The federal agency’s advance estimate suggests real gross domestic product grew 0.4 per cent in May, led by the manufacturing and wholesale trade sectors.

The April figure came in lower than expected by Statistics Canada as services-producing industries were unchanged while goods-producing industries edged up 0.1 per cent.

The Canadian economy is largely expected to stall in the latter half of this year

Small plane with at least six people on board crashes in California

At least six people were on board a small plane when it crashed in California early Saturday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed to CBS News.

The Cessna C550 business jet crashed at around 4:15 am local time near the French Valley Airport in Murrieta, California in Riverside County. The craft was “down in a field” and “fully involved in fire,” the Riverside County Fire Department tweeted on Saturday. The fire burned “approximately one acre of vegetation” and was contained at about 5:35 am
