Branson’s rocket dream ends after mission failure

Sir Richard Branson’s rocket company Virgin Orbit has shut down, just months after a major mission failure.

It comes weeks after the firm set up to launch satellites paused operations to try and boost its finances.

It had been selling off items it owns in a bid to survive, including its converted jet Cosmic Girl, and most of its headquarters in California.

In January, its first ever satellite mission in the UK reached space, but fell short of its target orbit.

New committee to report on North Bay’s long-term financial plan

Deputy Mayor Maggie Horsfield, also the budget chief, would be appointed as the chair of the Long-Term Financial Plan Committee with council approval of a motion on Tuesday’s agenda

If passed during Tuesday’s regular meeting, a motion from Deputy Mayor Maggie Horsfield, seconded by Councillor Mac Bain would establish the North Bay City Council’s Long-Term Financial Plan Committee.

ROCHESTER, NY — Phil Mickelson was asked about LIV Golf’s greatest accomplishment in the year since its inaugural event and his answer was all about the money.

Province banks on BC company to deliver financial literacy lessons in Manitoba high school pilot

The provincial government is banking on a new partnership with a BC-based company that will deliver virtual financial literacy programming to Manitoba classrooms next year.

Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Wayne Ewasko announced Thursday the province has awarded a contract to Enriched Academy to pilot a suite of financial literacy courses for Manitoba students next school year.

Ewasko stressed teaching more financial skills in the kindergarten-to-Grade-12 system was “increasingly relevant” in light of “uncertain interest rates, inflation and supply chain issues,” according to a news release.
