Gaetz says Santos ‘will have to go through the congressional ethics process,’ but shouldn’t be shunned

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said on Saturday that Rep. George Santos (RN. Y.) will have to face the congressional ethics process over fabrications about his background and questions about his finances, but shouldn’t be “subject to shunning” by his fellow members of Congress.

“George Santos represents over 700,000 people in New York,” Gaetz told CNN’s Michael Smerconish. “And whether people like that or not, those people deserve to have members of Congress collaborating with the person who serves them.”

Gaetz added that he doesn’t want to judge Santos before the congressional ethics process has run its course.

BlackRock plans to lay off 500 workers after last year’s market downturn

BlackRock (BLK), the world’s largest asset manager, will lay off about 500 employees — or roughly 3% of its workforce — according to an internal email seen by Yahoo Finance.

The investment giant joins a growing number of Wall Street firms trimming their headcount after last year’s market rout and as Corporate America ramps up hiring freezes and job cuts.

“This week, after meaningful head count growth in recent years, we are making some changes to the size and shape of our workforce,” CEO Larry Fink and BlackRock president Rob Kapito said in a memo sent to staff on Wednesday.

Toyota pushes zero-emission goals by converting old models – Business News

To accelerate the global move toward sustainable vehicles, Toyota is suggesting simply replacing the inner workings of vehicles already on the roads with cleaner technologies such as fuel cells and electric motors.

“I don’t want to leave any car lover behind,” Chief Executive Akio Toyoda said Friday, appearing on the stage at the Tokyo Auto Salon, an industry event similar to the world’s auto shows.
