Tucker Carlson leaves Fox News days after Dominion lawsuit settlement

April 24 (Reuters) – Fox News Media and its top-rated host Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways, less than a week after parent company Fox Corp (FOXA.O) settled for $787.5 million a defamation lawsuit in which Carlson played a starring role roles.

The outspoken Carlson embraced conservative issues and delivered his views with a style that made his prime-time show, “Tucker Carlson Tonight”, the highest-rated cable news program in the key 25-to-54 age demographic on the most-watched US cable news network. Shares of Fox closed 2.9% lower on the news, which the company announced on Monday.

Inflation hit 4.9% in April, the lowest it’s been in two years

Consumer prices rose 4.9% in April — the first time annual inflation has landed below 5% in two years.

On a monthly basis, the inflation rate rose 0.4%, which was higher than the 0.1% in March.

The latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed other favorable trends: Food prices rose just 7.7% over the 12-month period — the eighth-straight month of slower price growth. And on a monthly basis, food prices have actually declined.

Dominion Voting Systems had two goals in its defamation case against Fox News — accountability and “trying to make Dominion whole,” said Justin Nelson, the lead counsel election technology company.

Both were accomplished in this settlement, he told CNN on Tuesday.

The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver said April home sales slid 16.5 per cent from a year ago as new listings remained below historical norms.

The BC board says sales for the month totaled 2,741, almost 16 per cent below the 10-year seasonal average.

The composite benchmark price for all residential properties in Metro Vancouver hit $1,170,700 last month, down 7.4 per cent from a year ago but up 2.4 per cent from March.
