Helium Health gets $30M, backed by AXA IM Alts and 23andMe’s Anne Wojcicki

Helium Health, the African startup that provides software-as-a-service tools, financing, and insights for healthcare providers and public health organizations, has raised $30 million in Series B funding.

The news is coming three years after the Lagos-headquartered healthtech secured a $10 million Series A and 18 months following a rare Africa-GCC deal involving UAE-based healthcare provider-patient interaction platform Meddy.

Co-founder and CEO Adegoke Olubusi, in an interview with TechCrunch, provided an update on the acquisition. Branson’s rocket dream ends after mission failure

Sir Richard Branson’s rocket company Virgin Orbit has shut down, just months after a major mission failure.

It comes weeks after the firm set up to launch satellites paused operations to try and boost its finances.

It had been selling off items it owns in a bid to survive, including its converted jet Cosmic Girl, and most of its headquarters in California.

Senate Finance Chairman Ron Wyden is pushing back on assertions from GOP megadonor Harlan Crow that the panel lacks authority to request personal tax information and travel records from him as part of a probe into whether hospitality he provided to Justice Clarence Thomas could have triggered violations of US tax law.

Team Adams ordered to cough up nearly $20k in campaign finance-related fines

Major Adams’ inaugural committee got socked Monday with $19,600 in fines for violations it committed immediately before and after his Jan. 1, 2022 swearing in, according to a ruling from the city’s Campaign Finance Board.

At a Monday morning hearing, the board found that Adams’ inauguration team ran afoul of three campaign finance rules that apply to entities that handle transitions and inaugurations.
