Revelstoke business wins Small Business BC Award, pitches to Dragons’ Den

It’s been a busy few weeks for Jackie Rhind and her team at Ovry after she auditioned for Dragons’ Denwon a Small Business BC Award, and got married.

In April, local business, Ovry, was nominated for a Small Business BC award for Best Youth Entrepreneur, which it won. Financial Support Coming for Small Businesses Impacted by Wildfires

Support is on the way for small businesses impacted by the evacuation orders related to recent wildfires.

Premier Tim Houston announced the Small Business Wildfire Relief Program today, June 2.

“These wildfires are unprecedented, and the uncertainty they bring is being felt throughout entire communities, including businesses. This funding is one thing we can do to help people experiencing financial stress,” said Premier Houston. “We will also work with the business community to assess ongoing impacts as our wildfire response continues.”

US small business optimism deteriorated in April, the NFIB says

WASHINGTON, May 9 (Reuters) – US small business confidence fell in April on worries about the near-term economic outlook and persistent worker shortages, according to a survey released on Tuesday that also indicated inflation was easing.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) said its Small Business Optimism Index dropped 1.1 points to 89.0 last month. It was the 16th straight month that the index remained below the 49-year average of 98.
