Amazon will use small businesses to help deliver packages in the US

Amazon wants to tweak the way it delivers parcels across the US by partnering with at least 2,500 small businesses across 23 states by the end of this year.

With the launch of Amazon Hub Delivery, the ecommerce giant wants to help customers get their parcels in a more convenient and timely manner by partnering with smaller businesses that otherwise have free time in their day.

The scheme will see businesses like florists, coffee shops, clothing boutiques, gas stations, plumbers, and hair salons all taking on the role of distributing parcels to Amazon’s customers.

Chick Boss Cake owner urges small businesses to speak out about London vandalism – London

After a recent break-in, a London, Ont., business owner is speaking out about the rising incidents of vandalism and encouraging other businesses to do so as well.

Rebecca Hamilton, the owner of Chick Boss Cake on Wellington Street just south of Horton, says that the Friday night break-in was just the latest of at least five, along with multiple incidents of vandalism towards their branded vehicles.

The incident was captured on a surveillance camera, newly installed after the previous break-in.

London police have confirmed to 980 CFPL that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

CEBA loan repayments put 8,000 small Saskatchewan businesses “at risk”: CFIB

Some small businesses in Saskatchewan are at risk of closing by the end of next year.

That is a projection being made by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) following a recent survey by member businesses in the province.

The deadline for the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) loan is due at the end of this year. Many small businesses just won’t be able to repay it by that time.

250K Canadian small businesses risk closure as CEBA deadline looms

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) is sounding the alarm as the deadline for repaying Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) loans gets closer.

CEBA was a financial assistance program introduced during the pandemic to help small businesses stay afloat with loans of up to $60,000. The deadline for paying off this loan is December 31, 2023.

“For eligible CEBA borrowers in good standing, repaying the balance of the loan on or before December 31, 2023, will result in loan forgiveness of up to 33% (up to $20,000),” reads the CEBA website.
