New questions emerge about George Santos’ old campaign filings

CNN
—

Freshman Rep. George Santos, whose finances and manufacturing are under investigation, is facing new questions about the accuracy of the campaign reports filed during his unsuccessful 2020 bid for Congress.

Someone named Stephen Berger, for instance, is described in the New York Republican’s campaign filings as having contributed $2,500 on July 31, 2020.

But the address attributed to Berger – on Brandt Road in Brawley, California – belongs to William Brandt, a prominent California cattle rancher.

“It’s my address but not my check,” Brandt told CNN late Monday afternoon.

He said no one with the name listed on

McGill Is Offering A Free Personal Finance Course So You Can Actually Learn How Money Works

A complete McGill education might be rather pricey, but the university’s free and self-paced personal finance class physically couldn’t be cheaper. For the low, low price of zero dollars, you can learn from some real professors and lecturers on topics including how to budget, investing 101 and real estate strategies.

The class, developed in collaboration with The Globe and Mail and RBC Future Launch, is taught by professors from McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management. Upon completing every module of the course, you’ll receive a “McGill Personal Finance Essentials attestation of completion,” which is useful perhaps nowhere, but it does serve

Exclusive-JPMorgan looking to finance Italy’s Serie A for up to 1 billion euros -sources

By Elvira Pollina

MILAN (Reuters) – JPMorgan Chase & Co has written to Italy’s top soccer league to express a preliminary interest in supporting the development of Serie A’s media business, three people close to the matter said.

Interest from the US bank rivals that of several investment funds which have approached Serie A as the league prepares to hold a tender to sell its domestic and international broadcasting licenses for the seasons after 2024.

The sources said the 20 clubs that made up Serie A were informed of the interest by the US bank at a closed-door meeting of

Australian Finance Group (ASX:AFG) investors are sitting on a loss of 27% if they invested three years ago

Australian Finance Group Limited (ASX:AFG) shareholders should be happy to see the share price up 17% in the last month. But that doesn’t help the fact that the three year return is less impressive. In fact, the share price is down 41% in the last three years, falling well short of the market return.

With that in mind, it’s worth seeing if the company’s underlying fundamentals have been the driver of long term performance, or if there are some discrepancies.

There’s a multi-million-dollar corner of Canada’s financial system where a stringent “stress test” imposed by the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Services was never adopted. Valuing

Tesla

stock can be hard. Is it a tech company, just an auto company, or something in between? A famous finance professor has some help for investors. They might not like what he has to say, though.

Thursday evening, New York University’s Aswath Damodaran tweeted his updated valuation for

Tesla

(ticker: TSLA) stock. He thinks shares are overvalued, but not nearly as much as he did the last time he posted his assessment of the electric-vehicles leader. That’s the good news. The

Purchase Order Financing Helps Small Businesses

Small businesses have traditionally struggled to access the same trade finance as their larger peers.

According to Nolasco, standard lending models in the space limit growth because “your credit is capped by … by your balance sheet.”

“That means that even if you’re a good supplier and [the buyer] wants to triple the order, for example, they can’t because you don’t have enough money to buy the raw materials,” Nolasco pointed out.
