Homes to get energy efficient upgrades
A housing provider and a North East property maintenance specialist have partnered to make over 500 homes in North Yorkshire and East Cleveland more energy efficient. This initiative aims to help residents reduce their energy consumption and household bills.
Beyond Housing, with bases in Redcar and Scarborough, is working with 0800 Repair to deliver improvements to properties in Scarborough, Whitby, and East Cleveland. The program is funded by Beyond Housing.
Each property will be evaluated on its own merits, with possible enhancements covering insulation for cavity walls and attics, better heating systems and airflow, energy-saving bulbs, and thermostatically controlled showers.
Kelly Betts, Beyond Housing’s sustainability project lead, emphasized that ‘enhancing warmth, comfort, and energy efficiency in homes is a priority for our residents.’
The program is part of Beyond Housing’s goal to achieve EPC C across its homes by 2030. This investment demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting customers, reducing carbon emissions, and creating a more sustainable future.

Local gatherings will give neighbors the chance to connect with housing staff and technical experts, clarify details, and explore the planned upgrades. Properties deemed eligible will first receive an energy audit, followed by a one-on-one consultation to review suggestions.
Lisa Coverdale, 0800 Repair’s customer experience director, said the partnership ‘allows us to assist tenants in gaining upgrades that boost warmth, comfort, and energy efficiency in their homes.’
