His journey into international trade was serendipitous, starting with a transition from the development sector, where he specialized in private sector development. This unexpected shift opened doors to a career that has since become deeply impactful, blending his expertise in development with trade facilitation.

Aigbokhan’s career took a notable turn during the COVID-19 pandemic. With borders closed and global uncertainty at its peak, he designed a fully virtual engagement model, organizing both a virtual delegation trip and a virtual trade show. This initiative was new, as there was no existing template to guide his team. The virtual trade show not only attracted over 1,000 participants from five countries but also led to tangible outcomes, with several companies launching projects in Nigeria after their first exposure to the country through the event. This achievement showed his ability to innovate under pressure and create new pathways for international collaboration.

He’d implemented all the strategies in some way throughout his career, connecting each to a specific activity or company. It also reinforced his belief in the importance of continuous learning and professional development in the ever-evolving field of international trade.

Aigbokhan pursued the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP®|FIBP®) designation to project a high level of trade competence. He’s proud of this achievement, seeing it as a way to enhance his profile and open new doors within his organization. Earning this designation was not just a personal milestone but also a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in his profession. He views it as a tool to inspire confidence in his expertise and to contribute more effectively to his organization’s goals.

He also hopes to use this designation to help his home country, Nigeria, flourish through trade.
